Newsletter 68: Web+Center for facilities management at University of Memphis Residence and Dining Halls.

University of Memphis has extensively customized Web+Center for their facilities work order system for over 5 years now, logging over 54,000 work orders with their maintenance management software.

Using Web+Center’s open database and customizable source scripting architecture, they developed new custom reports, SQL*Server database based triggers for email notifications and developed other work flow features to exactly match the requirements of the facilities and maintenance departments for their residence and dining halls.

Since the facilities workers and maintenance carpenters and other personnel were more familar with paper based work orders rather than using computers to update the work orders, a special case ticket print function was developed to allow the work flow to move from the original web-based Customer+Center ticket creation to a printed work order that is taken by maintenance personal and filled out on clipboards and notes written on the paper based form and then that information is transcribed back into the tech+center later on.

LaVaire Lockhart, the local Technical Support Provider, who has made the extensive customizations to the Web+Center software, has prepared a document with flow charts and screen shots outlining how their organization has customized Web+Center to exactly fit their requirements and work flow. This PDF document shows and explains their customized system of:

  • Maintenance/Facilities Flowchart
